"Go Time" Means Don't Waste Time - Farm Credit Canada on Ag Data Transparent Value

Time has been called the most precious commodity, and efforts that save time bring great value.  This perspective describes the view of Darcy Herauf, Director of Ag Expert, Farm Credit Canada (FCC), and his organization’s view of Ag Data Transparent (ADT).  “Years ago, we were talking of developing an ag use data policy for our company, and once we saw ADT, we realized it would be a waste of time to develop our own,” he says. The company became a supporter and has helped the ADT effort expand into Canada.  “This is a great North American effort as data knows no border,” he points out.

As dozens of new technology providers enter the market each year, FCC encourages organizations to earn the ADT seal to help farmers have confidence in how their data is being used.  Being transparent helps customers of today and tomorrow. “We know the next generation of farmer who has grown up in the digital age will have expectations on how their data is – and isn’t – used, so we are encouraging companies to be proactive,” Herauf says.

FCC encourages companies to carve out the time it takes to earn the ADT seal.  “We know that busy companies have many priorities but being sure your customers understand how their data is being used is significant.” He points out that safely maximizing a farm’s data is essential to its success.  “A farm’s data could be seen at its trade secrets – how they farm, the products they use, their yield – so a farmer must have confidence this information is used according to their wishes,” Herauf says.  “ADT is a trailblazing organization, and the more companies who become ADT certified, the better it is for everyone.”
