2. Categories of Ag Data Collected

What categories of data does the data platform collect?  

  • Agronomic Data.

  • Farm Management Data.

  • Land Data.

Section 1.2 of Combyne Data Use Policy: Combyne collects the following types of data, as defined by Ag Data Transparent (www.agdatatransparent.com), when you use the Services. Again, Combyne only collects data that is relevant when marketing agricultural crops.

1.2.1. Land Data. Includes data on specific practices used when producing crops, including tillage practice data, etc.

1.2.2. Agronomic Data. Includes data about the crop being sold, including grade and quality data, crop type, crop protection use, etc.

1.2.3. Farm Management Data. Includes business operations, supply chain, commodity prices, and transport and storage data. More specifically:

  • Crop Inventory Data. Crop quantities, production year data, etc.

  • Contract, Settlement, and Load Ticket Data. Contract terms including quantities, contracted price, buyer, delivered quantities and quality, final settlements, etc. as may be relevant in crop marketing management.

3. Ownership

Do the tech company’s agreements with the user address ownership of user data? 

Yes. Section 2 of Combyne’s Data Use Policy states: Combyne believes that you own your Data that originates from your use of the Services. Combyne believes that ownership gives you the right to share, download, and delete your Data. This also means that you have the right to determine how, when, and with whom your Data is disclosed through the Services. Combyne assumes any person accessing your account has the right to share your Data through the Services. You release Combyne from any claims that someone else owns the Data uploaded to your account.

4. Transparency in Aggregation

Does the tech company allow the user to opt out of inclusion in anonymized and aggregated datasets that are accessible by other users? 

Not Applicable. Section 3.1 of Combyne’s Data Use Policy states: Combyne does not currently create nor utilize Anonymized and Aggregated Data.

5. Vendor Access to Data

Does the tech company require outside contractors that have access to user data to follow the tech company’s data policies? 

Yes. Section 3.1 of Combyne’s Data Use Policy states: All third party vendors used by Combyne to provide the Services that have access to your Data are required to abide by Combyne’s Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Data Use Policy.

6. Consent

Does the tech company obtain a user’s consent before sharing user data with third parties? (E.g. integrations, government and others)

Yes. Section 3.3 of Combyne’s Data Use Policy states: Combyne will not share your Data with other Technology Partners without first obtaining your explicit consent, which may be given directly to Combyne or through your request to obtain your Data through one of Combyne’s integration partners. Consent is either provided when you initially link your Combyne account with any of your Technology Partner accounts, or when you initiate a specific Data sharing event between your Combyne account and an already-linked Technology Partner account.

7. Consent

By signing up, does the user give the tech company the right to sell aggregated data to third parties without obtaining further consent?

No. Section 3.1 of Combyne’s Data Use Policy states: Combyne does not currently create nor utilize Anonymized and Aggregated Data.

8. Portability 

Does the tech company maintain an original copy of user data that can be retrieved or deleted upon a user’s request? 

Yes. Section 4 of the Data Use Policy states: at any point during your use of the Services, you may request a copy of your complete Data.

9. Data Security

Will the tech company notify the user if a breach of data security causes disclosure of the user’s data to an outside party?  

Yes. Section 5 of the Data Use Policy explains that, in the event of a data breach, natural disaster, or other unforeseen event that causes your Data to be deleted or compromised, Combine will notify you when you log in, by email, or other method required by law.

10. Notice

Will the tech company notify the user when data agreements are changed and summarize how the agreements were changed? 

Yes. Section 7 of the Data Use Policy explains that you will be notified by email or upon log in if any agreements change.

11. Changes in Company Ownership

Do the tech company’s data agreements address what happens to user data if the tech company is sold to another company?

Yes. Section 3.1 of Combyne’s Data Use Policy states: should Combyne sell the Services to another company, you will be provided notice of the transaction and allowed to delete or remove your Data after the sale.
