Ag Data Transparent Certifies First Canadian Company
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 14, 2018) — Farm Credit Canada (FCC) has received the Ag Data Transparent (ADT) seal for completing the third-party verification for AgExpert, FCC’s online farm management software. This makes FCC the first Canadian company to receive Ag Data Transparent recognition. With increased data collection on-farm, certification shows a company's dedication to protecting their customers: ag producers.
"Transparency and integrity are fundamental to what we do," said Fred Wall, Farm Credit Canada Marketing VP. "We want our customers, the producers, to know we are taking this seriously. Third party verification shows they can trust us with their information."
Karen Hand, Director of Canada Digital Agri-Food (CDAF), commended FCC for their leadership in the Canadian ag-tech space. "For ag-tech companies, the ADT process requires considerable commitment in terms of time and resources," she noted. "As the first Canadian company to become ADT certified, FCC exemplifies incredible leadership in demonstrating their commitment to Canadian farmers as a farm-first organization — a value shared across the Canadian ag-tech landscape."
The certification process is a third-party, not-for-profit evaluation that allows companies that engage in, and collect, agricultural data to align to industry-wide principles; transparency in data collection, access, use, portability, availability and retention are all required.
"The ADT process is solid and simple, just like our software. It tells our producers exactly how we handle their data, what we do with it and who has access to it," Wall added. "Data transparency is top of mind for our customers and it's a priority for us."
Hand agreed, "ADT certification is a comprehensive process that farmers can trust, giving them simple and straightforward information regarding the use and access of their personal farm data; vitally important in our rapidly-growing complex digital world."
Todd Janzen, administrator of Ag Data Transparent, thanked Farm Credit Canada for understanding the need and benefit of certifying. "All the companies and organizations that designed Ag Data Transparent understood the need for transparency and trust in the ag precision sector. They knew that data and analysis will continue to change and improve agriculture, but that the producer deserves to work with credible data partners." He added, "Certification shows a commitment to the producers, the backbone of the ag industry."
