Traction has the ability to collect the following types of agricultural data:
Farm Management and Financial Data. This may include information related to financial, tax, employment, commodity price, regulatory compliance, supply chain, and other management data.
Agronomic Data. This may include crop and field information, such as planting data, seed type, yield, disease and pest management application, fertilization, and prescriptions.
Land Data. This may include soil and fertility data, topographical, elevation, watershed, and drainage data, geospatial information, and tillage and conservation data.

3. Ownership
Do the tech company’s agreements with the user address ownership of user data?
Yes. Section 2 of Traction’s Ag Data Use Agreement states: “Traction believes that you are the owner of Ag Data that originates from your farm, device, or equipment. Traction believes that ownership should give you the right to share, download, and delete your Ag Data.”

4. Transparency in Aggregation
Does the tech company allow the user to opt out of inclusion in anonymized and aggregated datasets that are accessible by other users?
Yes. Section 4.2 of Traction’s Ag Data Use Agreement allows users to “opt out” of aggregated data sharing.

5. Vendor Access to Data
Does the tech company require outside contractors that have access to user data to follow the tech company’s data policies?
Yes. Section 4.3 of Traction’s Ag Data Use Agreement states: “To the extent Traction engages third parties to assist with providing the Services to you, Traction will require these third parties to abide by this Agreement with respect to your Ag Data.”

6. Consent
Does the tech company obtain a user’s consent before sharing user data with third parties? (E.g. integrations, government and others)
Yes. Section 5 of Traction’s Ag Data Use Agreement states that Traction will obtain a user’s consent before sharing data with third parties, including trusted advisors, integrations, and government agencies

7. Consent
By signing up, does the user give the tech company the right to sell aggregated data to third parties without obtaining further consent?
No. Section 4.2 of Traction’s Ag Data Use Agreement states that “Aggregated Data can be used by Traction for any lawful purpose, however, Traction will not sell or share your Ag Data to third parties without your consent.”

8. Portability
Does the tech company maintain an original copy of user data that can be retrieved or deleted upon a user’s request?
Yes. In Section 6 of Traction Ag Data User Agreement, Traction states that users can request a download of your Ag Data at any time as long as you maintain an active account with Traction. In some circumstances, your Ag Data may not be retrievable in its original format.

9. Data Security
Will the tech company notify the user if a breach of data security causes disclosure of the user’s data to an outside party?
Yes. Section 8 of Traction’s Ag Data Use Agreement states that Traction will notify users in the event of a data breach, natural disaster, or other unforeseen event that causes Ag Data to be deleted or compromised.

10. Notice
Will the tech company notify the user when data agreements are changed and summarize how the agreements were changed?
Yes. In Section 7 of Traction’s Ag Data Use Agreement, Traction promises to notify users by email or when logging into their account of any changes to Traction’s Ag Data Use Agreement. Traction will typically provide a summary of any substantial changes to such agreements, if necessary.

11. Changes in Company Ownership
Do the tech company’s data agreements address what happens to user data if the tech company is sold to another company?
Yes. In Section 11 of Traction’s Ag Data Use Agreement, Traction states that in the event Traction is sold or acquired by another company (meaning at least 51% of Traction ownership interest is transferred to new owners in a single calendar year), users will be notified and have the option of deleting Ag Data for at least thirty (30) days after the transfer.
